JFS works with a network of licensed adoption agencies that have children available from all corners of the world. We can help all Connecticut residents identify the country that best meets your adoption expectations.
- Locating a child, agency or attorney
- Preparing your home study
- Coordinating with state and federal agencies
- Preparing probate court material
- Post-placement services
Additionally, you can meet other Connecticut families that have successfully and happily adopted from the same agency that you have chosen. Groups of families that have adopted from the same agency often get together so their adoptive children can spend time with other adoptive children. JFS has met with Connecticut adoptive parents gathering in Newtown, Fairfield, New Haven and Hartford.
The world of International Adoption is constantly changing as more countries accept the Hague Convention on adoption. This document imposes strict requirements on all phases of international adaption. Jewish Family Service, as an accredited agency, can provide home studies for Connecticut families adopting from both Hague and non-Hague countries. Connecticut families working with Hague countries must also work with a Hague approved agency that provides the adoptive child.
