The Wellness Center was established to provide educational, emotional, and spiritual support to our Community. Rabbis and social workers lead small groups which share common concerns. Typical issues might address parenting, aging, death, divorce and intermarriage. Workshops are also offered in chanting, meditation, yoga, stress reduction, healing, and enhancing the meaning of Jewish holidays.
Jewish Family Service, in conjunction with Pediatric Health Care Associates and other professionals, offers ongoing educational seminars relating to all aspects of parenting. Furthermore, Jewish Family Service is charged by the Connecticut Judicial Department to provide seminars covering Parenting After Divorce
Jewish Family Service believes that every member of our community has the right to celebrate the Holidays in a meaningful way. We provide access to community celebrations, meals, toys, and anything else that will make these occasions a bit brighter.
Each year, Jewish Family Service typically distributes Kosher Turkeys for Thanksgiving, Baskets of Passover Food, Purim Baskets, Toys for Hanukah and Christmas, and cash to individuals and families in need.
We gratefully accept donations of used cars. Lack of transportation often keeps some of our clients from finding employment.
As Jews from around the world have sought refuge from a threatening world, JFS has been here to help them settle into their new homes in the USA. To date, hundreds of former refugees call our community their home and rely on us for all manner of services, such as English as A Second Language, assistance in finding jobs, help in becoming a citizen, acculturation and integration into the Jewish community.
Whether you are new to the community or you are dealing with a family crisis, our professionals are here to assist you and put you in touch with the appropriate resources.
